Phone calls

This morning I was happily in a state of somnolence, when roused awake by a phone call. I peered at the phone to check who was ringing me, and saw the ominous "Private Number". Of late, this means Thackeray is ringing. So I shook off my sleep, and affected my best bedroom voice with a "Well, Good Morning." Unfortunately, I was greeted by, "Hi, we are ringing about carpet cleaning."

I somehow felt a little dirty.
