  • I always set an aim of around 50 books to read in a year, and this year, yet again, I fall short of the mark. I must also admit that there are quite a few pulp fiction type books in the list, but regardless, another year of reading ends. From this list of books, I must give extra snaps to the following;
    (i) The Slap - for being a good read, but having NOT ONE character that I liked in it.
    (ii) Last Temptation of Christ and My Name was Judas - both were wonderful reads, and reading them almost back to back had Subtle worried that I might be undertaking some sort of religious conversion.
    (iii) Cassandra and Ransom - Both superbly written books which ignited an interest in mythology.
    (iv) The optimistically named This book will save your life, which left both Subtle and I eager for more from this author.
    (v) And finally, to On Chesil Beach for being the most inappropriate book to read on a honeymoon.

    You're an eclectic reader Mrs Subtle I'll grant you
    Having said that you've reminded me to revisit The Belgariad & Mallorean Sagas once again by David Eddings, thanks for the reminder
    I wish you many happy hours to while away reading and losing yourself in a book
